Hawthorn
There is a unique ritual associated with the harvesting of hawthorn for wandwood- they are only cut in symbolic prunings at Beltane. It is an excellent DADA wand, as it symbolizes protection. -- info from pottermore's chosen few
"The wandmaker Gregorovitch wrote that hawthorn ‘makes a strange, contradictory wand, as full of paradoxes as the tree that gave it birth, whose leaves and blossoms heal, and yet whose cut branches smell of death.’ While I disagree with many of Gregorovitch’s conclusions, we concur about hawthorn wands, which are complex and intriguing in their natures, just like the owners who best suit them. Hawthorn wands may be particularly suited to healing magic, but they are also adept at curses, and I have generally observed that the hawthorn wand seems most at home with a conflicted nature, or with a witch or wizard passing through a period of turmoil. Hawthorn is not easy to master, however, and I would only ever consider placing a hawthorn wand in the hands of a witch or wizard of proven talent, or the consequences might be dangerous. Hawthorn wands have a notable peculiarity: their spells can, when badly handled, backfire." -- info from Pottermore
Unicorn Hair
Unicorn hair is a more subtle wand, but it is quite compatible with Charms and Transfiguration. It is also hands-down the best core for healing, as it picks up some of the healing capabilities of unicorn blood. Unicorn hair has a reputation of picking gentler or more cerebral users, so it is common amongst Hufflepuffs and Ravenclaws. More laid-back Gryffindors and subtler Slytherins may find themselves with a Unicorn hair wand. -- info from pottermore's chosen few
"Unicorn hair generally produces the most consistent magic, and is least subject to fluctuations and blockages. Wands with unicorn cores are generally the most difficult to turn to the Dark Arts. They are the most faithful of all wands, and usually remain strongly attached to their first owner, irrespective of whether he or she was an accomplished witch or wizard. Minor disadvantages of unicorn hair are that they do not make the most powerful wands (although the wand wood may compensate) and that they are prone to melancholy if seriously mishandled, meaning that the hair may 'die' and need replacing." -- info from Pottermore
Short Length
"Abnormally short wands usually select those in whose character something is lacking, rather than because they are physically undersized (many small witches and wizards are chosen by longer wands)." -- info from Pottermore
Unyielding Flexibility
Rigid and inflexible wands are the hardest to master, but dependent on their core and wood, can be the most powerful. -- info from pottermore's chosen few
"Wand flexibility or rigidity denotes the degree of adaptability and willingness to change possessed by the wand-and-owner pair - although, again, this factor ought not to be considered separately from the wand wood, core and length, nor of the owner’s life experience and style of magic, all of which will combine to make the wand in question unique." -- info from Pottermore

leopard
General Info
Leopard people tend to be independent, graceful, and secretive. They are self-assured, aggressive, and are often known as intimidating. Leopard medicine helps people to learn to listen to their own intuition and instinct, and to understand that this sense is just as powerful as logic. -- info from quotev
In-Depth Analysis
Leopards are excellent at stalking prey. They are silent and inconspicuous hunters and are able to move in and out of situations without being seen. This invisibility allows them to observe every situation they encounter with clarity. Leopard medicine people have strong intuitive abilities. Learning to trust and respond to their inner instincts is part of their life lesson. They are also highly sensitive and need to pay attention to what they feel and then respond accordingly. Caressing touch in various forms is important for those who hold this medicine.
As with all cats, the whiskers of the Leopard have specialized sensory hairs that can register very small changes in air pressure enabling them to avoid objects whilst moving around in the dark. Whiskers are also used to establish the position of prey and locate their exact position for 'the killing bite'. Because leopards attack by biting the back of the neck and do not attack their prey from the front, those with leopard energy often have difficulty confronting conflict head on. Sometimes this can be beneficial and at other times harmful. Learning how to conquer conflict in a balanced way is part of what the leopard teaches.
Those with this totem would benefit by imitating the leopard in its movements. Any form of dance, tai chi or rhythmic practice would be beneficial. Because the leopard is a strong and powerful leaper it can show us how to leap over obstacles efficiently and gracefully. They are masters at negotiating their environment and will continually serve to encourage that master ship in those who hold this totem. -- info from The Mystic Sea
Childhood
Libra is the second child of Draco and Astoria Malfoy (nee Greengrass), younger than her brother Scorpius by three years. From a very young age, she attached like a parasite to Scor and looked up to him as if he were the center of her universe. Though she made acquaintance with other kids in her age range, Libra preferred to stay around home, learning from her parents and older brother about the magical world and life in general.
To her, the other kids and their games were a bore. They were always sectioning off among themselves or regarding her with an air of suspicion just because they'd heard things about her dad - which usually resulted in her saying some rather inappropriate words she'd picked up from her brother's vocabulary. Scor was far more intriguing, anyway, as were the books and artefacts strewn across their home. (Hide and seek was one of her favourites, even when Scorpius counted to ten thousand - or so he claimed - before looking for her and Draco got annoyed by her choice of hiding places.)
When not being her brother's shadow - or when she started catching onto his lack of actually seeking when playing hide and seek - Libra was often found with her mother, who taught her a disdain for mistreating muggles yet still upheld an expectation for proper, regal behaviour. As such, Libra grew into something of a 'benevolent yet spoiled princess' personality with an edge of mischief encouraged by Scor's sense of humour.
Over time, Libra and Scorpius developed something akin to a close friendship on top of being siblings. Libra came to Scor with all of her problems, sometimes even before she would go to either of their parents, and relied on him for protection when it was actually necessary. But they also were playfully mischievous to each other - the kind of ups, downs, pranks, and teasing one would expect of lifelong friends. And just like lifelong friends, young Libra did not take kindly to the sudden, forced distance of her brother's first year at Hogwarts.
She was excited for him yet also felt quite betrayed and slightly jealous, to the point that while Libra did help with school shopping she was a horrible little brat when the actual departure date arrived. Libra shunned her brother, clung to her mother, and ran off to be with 'friends' she barely even knew just to get away while the train was being boarded. By time the eight-year-old girl realized the tantrum wouldn't make him stay home, it was too late and she found herself climbing up her father's back desperately trying to see into the windows of a moving train to wave goodbye to Scor.
Astoria seized the teaching opportunity, and as such Libra learned a valuable life lesson about being petty. Then she proceeded to send at least a dozen letters to her brother, some proclaiming her apologies and others asking questions about the train ride and Hogwarts itself. Somewhere in the middle, they made up without actually making a big show of it and she learned about his new friend, the Potter boy (Albus Severus). Libra was deeply confused by the choice of friends, and tended to refer to Al by less than pleasant names - such as "Gryffindor's reject" - though it became almost friendly in nature, the same way as she and Scorpius sometimes teased each other. In fact, she sent the Potter boy a large bag of Bertie Bott's beans around Halloween. If the bag just happened to only contain the gross beans, surely it was pure coincidence. (Except that it wasn't.)
While Scor was away, Libra got even closer to her mother and - albeit to a lesser degree - her father. She buried her nose in books, asked tons of questions to fuel an insatiable curiosity about the world around her, and started to take interest in certain wizarding sports. In particular, she found a love for following the careers of competitive duelers. And, though she was much less outspoken about it, Libra also discovered an interest in the very peculiar muggle sport of hockey which ultimately led to her insistence that she be allowed ice skating lessons.
Schooling
When the time came for Libra to attend Hogwarts, she was just as excited about getting to be with her brother as she was the whole 'learning magic and getting her own wand' aspect. She did a little socializing, during which she and Al's younger sister Lily Luna (one year older than Libra) commiserated about how 'terrible' their brothers were while seated across from them and stealing their chocolate frogs, but for the most part never strayed far from Scorpius. There was never a question in her mind about whether they'd both be in Slytherin. Of course they'd be together. It was non-negotiable!
The sorting hat, on the other hand, wanted to place Libra in Ravenclaw. She apparently had the mind and ambition for it, but she couldn't fathom being stuck with all the boring kids. It wasn't even Gryffindor, where Al's siblings were, so she'd have been all alone among people she didn't really know or care much about. Thankfully, because she wanted so strongly to be alongside Scorpius, Libra ended up sorted into Slytherin. (To this day, he still likes to tease her over almost being a Ravenclaw; she told him about it shortly after joining the Slytherin table post-sorting.)
Libra fit in fairly well with her housemates, though there was always a certain edge of being an ousider which she felt being stuck with a dungeon for a common room. Schooling fascinated her, and while she had a healthy social life she wasn't quite concerned with popularity or anything of the sort - not that her generally regal and spoiled demeanour made such clear.
Overall, Libra found that she was most adept at Herbology in her first year. Later, she developed skills with Transfiguration and harnessed her wand's capabilities to become proficient with Charms work - especially those charms related to healing, thanks to its unicorn hair core. Though she entertained the thought a few times, she chose against joining the dueling team and instead chose to spectate.
