Fix Broken Style Imports

Some imported styles from insanejournal -- such as Bloggish from this tutorial -- rely upon assets from non-secure pages. This isn't an issue half the time you're browsing dreamwidth, but occasionally blogs are displayed through https... which means those assets flat out cannot be imported and your theme breaks.

Luckily, there's an easy fix, as I went and made a quick and dirty tumblr theme for myself that uses the base-weblog style so that I wouldn't be breaking the TOS by uploading the asset to tumblr. Here's how to fix those broken styles using that .css file:

That's it, you're done!

Fixing IJ Layout Images on Dreamwidth

If you've installed a layout meant for IJ onto DW, this is necessary to make the layout appear properly. It feels like a lot of work, but in the end it's not really that much.

Start by searching for one of the "find this" versions. If you find it, great! If not, skip to the next table and try one from it. Unfortunately, there's several different methods used and I'm only familiar with two of them. The same principle applies to layouts from livejournal, but will be more manual. Since those are so rare, I'm not including those in the guide.

Revamped Layout

As it would turn out: I have not, in fact, disappeared into oblivion. I've just been quietly doing my thing (which includes trying to rediscover my muses because I happen to have the best psl ever and an infinitely patient slp) instead of posting around [insanejournal.com profile] rp_tutorials or [insanejournal.com profile] pb_updates. Or any of the maybe two other places I actually bothered to peek into from my general shroud of privacy.

While I can't say whether I'll ever get around to either making my own codes or more icons to share (or fleshing out my cdj), I can say I'm finally completely happy with the layout on my journal. Thank the universe for Developer Tools and learning through experience! (Seriously, though, it started out as this; I feel highly accomplished.)

Also, Devoth's HEX to RGBA converter was a lifesaver because screw figuring out RGB values.

Roleplaying & Writing Resources

Tired of letting great resources go unused because I didn't feel like picking apart my watch list to figure out which usernames went to what kind of things, I decided to do just that - once. I might have missed a few specifications (such as icon journals which also have graphics), but I tried my best to organize these in a useful manner.

This list contains mostly insanejournal based resources (with a few others tossed in where relevant) and is nowhere near exhaustive even if rather long.

All at once, I found myself placed within a circle and told to memorize all I saw tonight... )

Resource: Doctor Who Emoticons

Just some emoticon resources I came across when looking for small Doctor Who things to use as bullets. This is mostly for my own reference, but I'm leaving it public in case someone stumbles across and has some use for these. (C'mon, who doesn't want a little K-9?!)

Weasley Family
Bill Weasley

Quoted from Lexicon:

Victoire Weasley (b. May 2, circa 1999 or 2000)

Hogwarts c. 2011. Victoire is the daughter of Bill and Fleur Weasley. Harry’s son, James, caught Victoire snogging Teddy Lupin on Platform 9 ¾ as she was preparing to leave for what was most likely her seventh year at Hogwarts; at the time she would probably have been seventeen, and Teddy nineteen (DH/e). She was born on May 2nd, the anniversary of the victory over Voldemort (YL).

Dominique Weasley

Middle child of Bill & Fleur Weasley, this name could belong to either a boy or a girl (YL).

Louis Weasley

Youngest child of Bill & Fleur Weasley (YL).
